What is Software Engineering in Tax at KPMG?

Technology is changing the way tax works. Businesses are dealing with more data, changing regulations and complex challenges, so they need smarter tools to help them keep pace. In this team we build the products and platforms that make tax simpler, faster and more effective.

From developing new digital tools to improving existing technology, our work helps organisations cut manual effort, streamline processes and find the insights they need to make better decisions.

Software Engineering in Tax Graduate Programme

You don’t need to be a technical expert before you join. If you’re curious, adaptable and excited by solving problems, we’ll help you build the skills you need. What matters most is your willingness to learn, ask questions and explore new ideas.

You’ll work with software engineers, analysts, designers and product specialists to create technology that solves real business problems. You could build features for a cloud-based application, test software before launch, automate manual processes or use AI-powered tools to improve how technology is developed.

Training and Benefits

On this programme, you’ll learn through technology-focused training, structured development and hands-on project work. A network of peers, mentors and leaders will support you as you build your skills and confidence.

We offer a competitive salary and a host of great benefits too, including 25 days’ holiday, study leave and a day off on your birthday. What’s more, you can take up to six days of time off to take part in volunteering initiatives.

Our firm’s hybrid working model balances the flexibility of working from home with the importance of collaborating and learning in our offices or at the sites of the organisations we audit. We trust our people to be where they need to be, with our colleagues working together in person as often as needed.

Seeing the whole picture

As part of our wider Tax practice, you will be building friendships and shared experiences, innovating, and learning together. KPMG is a place where you can be yourself and give your best - whoever you are and whatever your background.  We look at more than just your academic results and will also consider your strengths, values and motivations. If you’re collaborative and good with people, that can be just as important as your ability to pick up key technical skills. See the specific programme page on our Careers Portal for entry requirements and our ‘Applying to KPMG’ section for detailed application guidance.
