The Role
As a Lead Generation Specialist, you will be responsible for verifying and qualifying marketing leads, while proactively identifying and engaging new contacts to expand Illumina’s customer database and support business growth.
This role involves extensive prospecting activities and close collaboration with Sales and Marketing colleagues across Europe to ensure alignment, transparency, and a seamless customer experience. It also requires excellent attention to detail and proficiency in data reporting and Excel, as this role plays a central part in supporting the team with clear, collaborative reporting that helps shape outreach strategies and shared goals.

Responsibilities:
- Validate and qualify inbound leads received daily through the website or marketing campaigns, ensuring they meet criteria for follow-up and conversion into business opportunities.
- Execute outbound prospecting based on Marketing and Sales campaign plans, using value-based messaging and a variety of tools (e.g., LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Monocl, Scileads), online research, and cold calling to generate new business and expand our customer base.
- Conduct thorough account research to identify key stakeholders and gather relevant background information prior to outreach.
- Analyse market trends, campaign performance, and lead data to develop territory-specific prospecting strategies and evaluate the effectiveness of both inbound and outbound initiatives.
- Support Business Reviews with detailed lead and conversion analysis, assessing marketing and sales campaign outcomes and the progression from lead to revenue.
- Monitor and evaluate lead handover processes between the different teams to ensure alignment, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor funnel performance metrics and deliver regular reports with actionable insights for stakeholders
- Accurately document all prospecting activities in CRM systems, including segmentation, company type, customer details, and project metrics & goals.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Sales, and Specialist teams to ensure alignment and effectiveness of outreach strategies, and optimise lead handling and conversion.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to meet quarterly lead generation targets.
- Maintain a high level of motivation and ownership to exceed goals and deliver an exceptional first-touch customer experience.
- Gain and maintain a high understanding of Illumina’s products, technologies, and market segments.
- Share insights and best practices across teams to support continuous improvement.
- Thrive in a fast-paced, progressive environment, demonstrating adaptability and initiative.

Requirements:
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and communicate complex technical concepts.
- High analytical skills with experience in reporting and data interpretation greatly preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
- Outstanding interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Interest or background in genomics, life sciences, or biotechnology is a plus.
- French or Spanish language skills is a plus.
Experience/Education:
- Some experience in lead generation, sales, business development, or marketing support roles
- Familiarity with the biotech or pharmaceutical industry is a high advantage.
- Bachelor’s degree in a marketing-related or biology-related field required; MS/PhD is a plus.
