Mechatronics Engineer (Graduate level)

Are you an exceptional graduate or emerging technical specialist with a rock-solid foundation? Do you thrive when diving deep into engineering mysteries and learning how to crack them wide open? We are seeking an entry-level Mechatronics Engineer to join our NPD team.

What You'll Do

  • Technical Resource: Act as a supporting technical resource for the NPD team, assisting various product delivery project teams.
  • Collaborative Troubleshooting: Partner closely with Product Design Engineers to investigate issues within the work system, helping to diagnose mechanical defects alongside electronics, wiring, and motor optimization.
  • Multi-Project Execution: Comfortably juggle several projects at once, achieving a high standard of work.
  • Cross-Functional Communication: Clearly present technical data, root-cause analysis, and test observations to an audience of your peers. Proactively keep your line manager and key stakeholders updated on your work and participate actively in team discussions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Produce accurate and timely work in accordance with defined processes, actively seeking out feedback to apply to future work and correct errors promptly.
  • Rapid Testing & Iteration: Bring a “Fail-Fast” mentality - willing to test, learn, and iterate rapidly to find the best solution.

Who You Are

  • A Precision Fixer: You have a rock-solid technical grounding and take pride in executing work with accuracy, and diligence.
  • Electro-Mechanical Mindset: You don't look at products in isolation; you are eager to bridge the gap between physical mechanics and electrical systems, constantly building your expertise.
  • An Agile Troubleshooter: You adapt quickly to unforeseen circumstances where they relate to your day-to-day responsibilities, and love the thrill of unpicking engineering challenges.
  • System-Oriented: You think both critically and holistically, ensuring that immediate technical fixes align with broader tooling, compliance, and production capabilities.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Engineering Background: A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering, or a highly relevant electro-mechanical discipline.
  • Electro-Mechanical Expertise: Academic or foundational understanding of consumer appliances with integrated electronics, including knowledge of electrical schematics; PCBs; motors; common embedded communication protocols (I2C, SPI etc) and internal wiring.
  • Compliance Consciousness: Solid baseline knowledge of general electrical compliance and regulatory safety standards for consumer electronics and home appliances.
  • Analytical Problem Solving: Ability to fairly assess data without prejudice, investigating and troubleshooting basic issues within a work system.
  • Strong Communication Skills: The ability to communicate complex engineering challenges and solutions clearly, persuasively, and inclusively with both local and international teams.
  • Multi-Tasking Mastery: Exceptional organisational skills with an ability to contribute to multiple technical projects concurrently.

Bonus Points for Experience With:

  • Solidworks CAD software and sheet metal tool add-ins.
  • Altium or KiCAD experience.
  • Ability to write or debug simple scripts (such as C/C++ or Python) to support physical prototyping and map out basic application flows.
  • Exposure to reviewing and troubleshooting schematics and PCB layouts.
  • Knowledge or experience of IPC standards.
