About the Analysis & Data Team:
Our team is dedicated to transforming numbers into insights, enabling players and coaches to excel in every aspect of the game. We employ cutting-edge analytics tools to assess player performance, team dynamics, and opponent strategies. Collaboration with the Coaching and Player Recruitment Teams is vital to our success. We work hand-in-hand to identify key performance indicators that align with our club's objectives, ensuring that our analyses contribute directly to training regimens and recruitment strategies. We also prioritise communication and transparency, sharing our findings and insights with players and coaching staff through regular workshops and reports. This fosters a culture of continuous improvement and encourages players to leverage data in their personal development.
The Opportunity:
Sunderland Association Football Club have Performance Analysis placements available for the 2026/27 football season. Reporting to the Analysis and Insights domain, the placements will run alongside a Sport Performance and Analysis MSc course or equivalent. Successful applicants will be considered for roles supporting the Academy, First Team, Women’s and Coaching programmes. This is a great opportunity to learn and develop performance analysis skills within a fast-paced and demanding elite sporting environment.

- Capture the essence of training and matches—both home and away—while fully embracing our club’s coaching philosophy.
- Support ongoing projects and help maintain comprehensive video databases for teams and players.
- Assist in crafting tailored analysis sessions for individuals and units.
- Collaborate on innovative strategies aimed at elevating player development.
What We Ask For:
To thrive in this exciting role, we’re looking for motivated candidates who are currently pursuing a postgraduate degree and can commit to the entire 2026/27 season. While it’s essential to have a strong academic background, we also value relevant qualifications in football coaching, scouting, performance analysis, or talent identification. Familiarity with performance analysis tools such as Hudl, SBG, or Wyscout will give you an edge, as will a solid understanding of the game’s technical and tactical aspects. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to operate on Mac systems—particularly with software like iMovie—are also important for success in this role.

An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will need to be completed before you join our team, and a valid UK driving license is essential for travel to matches and training sessions. You will be required to obtain an Enhanced DBS through SAFC.
