Graduate job
The Role
The Graduate NPI Engineer will play a key role in ensuring that new products are industrialised effectively, meeting customer requirements for quality, performance, cost, and compliance.
NPI activity at Precision Micro is typically fast-paced and delivered to short timescales, requiring engineers to balance technical rigour with responsiveness and commercial awareness, often working across multiple projects in parallel.
Key responsibilities include:
-
Technical review of customer drawings, CAD models, and specifications to assess manufacturability using photochemical etching and secondary processes
-
Producing and modifying CAD models and engineering drawings to support product development, process definition, and customer requirements
-
Supporting feasibility studies, costings, and technical input during the quotation phase
-
Assisting with the development, optimisation, and validation of manufacturing processes for new products
-
Supporting process trials, first-off manufacture, and capability studies
-
Creating and maintaining engineering documentation including routings, work instructions, control plans, and technical reports
-
Working closely with Quality, Production, Sales, Supply Chain, and HSE teams to resolve technical and production issues during product introduction
-
Operating in full compliance with company Health & Safety standards, proactively identifying risks and working collaboratively with HSE to develop safe, practical engineering solutions
-
Applying structured problem-solving techniques to support root cause analysis and corrective actions
-
Contributing to continuous improvement and standardisation of NPI and manufacturing processes
About You
This role is ideal for a self-motivated, confident, and ambitious graduate who enjoys working in a technical, manufacturing-led environment and is comfortable applying good numerical and analytical skills to real-world problems.
You will ideally have:
-
A First-class honours degree (essential)
-
A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, or a related engineering discipline is desirable but not essential
-
Excellent mathematics and numeracy skills, with a minimum of Grade 8 (or equivalent) at GCSE Mathematics
-
Confidence working with calculations, tolerances, data analysis, and technical information
-
The ability to understand and interpret technical drawings, data, and specifications
-
An analytical and methodical approach to problem solving
-
Great communication skills and the confidence to engage with colleagues across engineering, production, quality, commercial, and HSE teams
-
Good organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise effectively in a changeable environment
-
Experience using CAD software (any mainstream package) is advantageous
-
A genuine interest in precision manufacturing or advanced engineering environments, with the ambition to develop a long-term technical career
What We Offer
-
A technically focused graduate role within a world-class precision manufacturing business
-
Exposure to high-specification customer applications and regulated industries
-
A varied, fast-moving NPI environment rather than long single-project lead times
-
Structured on-the-job training, mentoring, and professional development
-
Competitive graduate salary and benefits package
-
Clear opportunities for progression into senior NPI, process, manufacturing, or quality engineering roles
