We are looking for an enthusiastic Electric Motor and Drives Placement Student to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Accelera Business Segment in UK, Peterborough. During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential!
This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence 7th July 2025.
External Qualifications and Competencies
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Development of electro-mechanical system (Electrical, Thermal and Mechanical) for electric drive units.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electric motors, power electronics, control, and software).
- Create innovative electric powertrain solutions for commercial vehicles, including buses and trucks.
- Serve as the local electro-mechanical expert for electric machines and electric drive unit
- Help to develop software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop test benches for power electronics, electric motors, and controls systems to enhance product validation and testing processes.
- Exhibit theoretical expertise and practical experience in developing models for advanced e-machine topologies intended for traction applications.
Additional Responsibilities Unique to this Position
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Studying towards Electrical, Mechanical, or control engineering with experience in Electrical Motor Design, including expertise in electromagnetics, mechanical systems, and thermal management.
- Proficiently use of numerical programs tools such as MATLAB/SIMULINK, Ansys/Motor-CAD, JMAG, and 3D CAD tools such as CREO or NX. Programming skills in C, Python, or other relevant languages a plus.
- Demonstrate a positive, open-minded attitude with a great growth mindset, embracing challenges and driving innovation in new technologies.
- Display excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
