Harper Adams University is looking to recruit a part-time Postgraduate Research Student Administrator providing administrative support for the University’s postgraduate research students from the point of application to graduation. In collaboration with the Director of Postgraduate Research and the Postgraduate Research Student Advisor, the postholder helps deliver the University’s aim to provide an excellent student experience for the postgraduate research students.

The successful candidate should have excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and work accurately under pressure, including balancing diverse tasks which encompass the entire student lifecycle.

Excellent ICT skills, including substantial experience with multiuser databases are essential for this role.

Ideally, the successful candidate will:

  • Possess a first degree or suitable experience in a similar role.
  • Exhibit excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and work accurately under pressure, including balancing diverse tasks which encompass the entire student lifecycle.
  • Show evidence of self-motivation, with the confidence to take initiative and work autonomously with limited direction.
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills, with a professional and proactive approach to client service.
  • Demonstrate excellent ICT skills, including substantial experience with multi-user databases.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with a wide range of staff as well as individuals from diverse backgrounds and nationalities.
  • Adopt a flexible and adaptable approach to work, including occasional evening or weekend work during periods of short-term exceptional workload.
  • Have previous experience in higher education administration.
