What we’re looking for

Eligibility requirements:

Education - An undergraduate degree or near completion of one is required, but it doesn’t need to be in design. Our placement is built to give you the core experience you need. It’s ideal if you have a real interest in design, enjoy solving problems creatively, and want to develop your skills in a practical, hands‑on environment.

Right to work: To be eligible for this role you are required to have the appropriate right to work in the UK for the programme. Please be aware Sky does not offer sponsorship for this programme.

Skills and qualities we value:

  • Lifelong learner – you’re learning every day and thirsty to know more.

  • Passionate about design – you're excited about creating things – both visually and conceptually. You’ve got a good eye for detail but you can also step back and see the bigger picture when you need to.

  • Curious – you’re dying to know what’s going on in the head of your user. You ask questions and you’re fascinated by the answers.

  • New perspectives – you bring your ideas to work and share them liberally.

  • Someone you love to work with – you're a person we can get along with. You communicate your ideas and designs well. You share the Sky Design team values: Play Nice, Serious Fun, Be Bold and Captivated by Customers.

  • Can-do attitude - you’re not afraid to muck in and do what needs to be done, with a healthy sense of passion. Sometimes you even do things that scare you.

  • Some examples of your previous work that you can show off (e.g. a portfolio).

Note: Sky does not provide relocation expenses for this role. If you're unsure whether you meet the eligibility criteria, reach out to us at earlycareers@sky.uk — we’re here to help.

The application journey

Here’s what to expect, step by step:

Step 1 – Apply Online

Start by telling us a bit about yourself — your degree, your experience and anything you’re proud of, like part‑time jobs, volunteering or projects. You’ll also upload your portfolio as part of your application, so share work that shows your curiosity, creativity and potential.

Once you hit submit, check your inbox (and junk folder) for the link to start your digital assessments.

Note: You are only allowed to apply to one programme.

Step 2 – Smash the online assessment and video interview

You’ll take two digital tests that look at your fit for Sky, how you think, what motivates you, and how you might fit into the placement. As part of this stage, you’ll also be invited to a brief video interview, giving us a chance to hear your ideas, understand your problem-solving approach, and learn more about what drives you. Head to our Preparation Hub to get familiar with the format and try out some practice tests. Just make sure you complete everything by 5th May 2026. We can’t accept late submissions.

Step 3 – Assessment Centre

If you ace the online stages, we’ll invite you to an assessment day.

You’ll take part in tasks designed to show us how you think, solve problems, and work with others, all while getting a real feel for what it’s like to work in Sky.

We’ll let you know when to expect a decision after the day’s done.

How you’ll grow and be supported

We’ve created a brand-new learning experience which will help you grow into your role with the right tools and support (of course). The development programme supports you with:

  • Growth - Every project and role you take on will be a chance to learn and grow. And you’ll be supported by passionate colleagues along the way.

  • Confidence - Whatever your background, you can make a valuable and valued contribution. You’ll build confidence by getting involved and stepping outside of your comfort zone.

  • Belonging - You’re trusted to own your day, but there’s always someone on hand to make sure you succeed. With fellow grads, inspiring each other to think big and take action. Or with your manager and wider Sky team to help build your own unique career.

Plus, you’ll have access to a range of tools, from workshops to digital courses to help you along the way.

So why wait?

This placement is designed to put you at the centre of the action. You’ll learn, grow and help make the magic of Sky happen. Whatever your background, skills or passions, there’s an opportunity for you to explore. A career at Sky is where better begins.
