Join the software engineering team at the forefront of developing great quality software. Learn agile techniques. Produce clean, testable and documented code. Take a proactive role in helping the team choose the best solutions and technologies for the task at hand. Make an impact by producing test coverage and ensuring software is delivered to the highest standard.
Nothing happens on-screen without the talented people behind the scenes, working their magic every day at Sky. Join us for an internship in our software engineering team and you’ll be working in a fun, fast-moving environment. Impress us, and we may well offer you a full-time position once you graduate – starting summer 2025.
What you’ll be doing
- Refine your coding skills, whether you’re a newbie or you’ve dabbled for a while
- Help us build a new product or app.
- Create, maintain and improve automated test scripts
- Ensure deployed products remain available and diagnose issues when they occur
- Get involved in scaling applications and products when popularity increases or where user demands peak expectations.
What we’re looking for
The one essential requirement is that you're currently studying for an undergraduate degree in any subject, and in your penultimate year.
Other skills we’re looking for include:
- Be familiar with a modern-day programming language
- Passionate about software and technology
- A quick learner and team player
- Analytical and enjoy using logic to solve problem

Step 1 – Submit your application.
We’ll ask for your details, academic information, and anything else you think would be relevant, such as work experience.
Once your application has been submitted, you’ll be invited to complete our immersive digital assessments. This may land in your junk folder, so remember to check it.

Step 2 – Complete our two online digital assessments.
These look at your Sky fit and your business fit. Why not pop onto our dedicated preparation hub to familiarise yourself with some of these digital assessments before completing them.
You’ll also have the opportunity to practice each of these assessments beforehand, so please read our email instructions carefully. We’ve added some tips to help you along the way.
You’ll be able to complete the coding assessment in any modern-day web language of your choosing. Please make sure you do practice tests before beginning this stage. We don’t expect to know everything so during this test you can also refer to websites or books.
To be considered for the final assessment stage, all digital assessments must be completed by 31st March 2025. Please note we are unable to accept assessment submissions after this date.

Step 3 – Attend our virtual assessment centre.
For the final stage, we’ll invite you to our virtual assessment centre and give you some tasks to get to know you better. The day will give you a practical insight into what it’s like to work as a Software engineer and will assess your technical aptitude.
Once you’ve completed your assessment day, we’ll let you know when you can expect to hear back from us.
