Quantitative & Business Solutions (QBS) is the specialized area within BBVA where mathematical rigor meets direct business impact in Global Markets. Composed of a high-caliber team of quantitative analysts and developers, the group acts as a strategic bridge between innovation and real-world application, working in close collaboration with Trading, Structuring, and Risk departments. The team leads the entire lifecycle of financial modeling—from the methodological definition and calibration.
About the Job
Are you a STEM student looking to apply advanced mathematics and coding to real-world financial markets? Join our Fixed Income Models team within QBS. You will work alongside senior quantitative analysts and developers to improve the models used for pricing and managing risks in Global Markets. This role is a bridge between quantitative innovation and practical application in a dynamic trading environment.
What You Will Do
- Quantitative Innovation: Research and prototype new modelling methodologies for Interest Rate and Credit products.
- Model Development: Develop tools and libraries for model testing, calibration to market data, and backtesting.
- Optimization: Use advanced techniques (Machine Learning, computational acceleration) to improve model efficiency and scalability.
- Support & Analysis: Assist in the analysis of risks related to derivatives and prepare technical documentation of your results.
What We Are Looking For
- Education: Undergraduate or Master’s student in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or Economics (with a strong quantitative background). An MSc in Quantitative Finance is highly valued.
- Technical Skills: Programming skills in Python.
- Solid understanding of Probability, Stochastic Processes, and Numerical Methods.
- Mindset: Intellectual Curiosity: A passion for research and a proactive, innovation-driven attitude.
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
- Nice to Have: Basic knowledge of derivatives pricing, Fixed Income markets, or exposure to C++.
The Training You Will Receive
- Deep exposure to Interest Rate models (LGM, QGM, SABR, etc.) and derivative pricing.
- Experience with Quantitative development standards in an investment banking environment.
- Real-world interaction with Trading and Risk teams.

- Availability: This is a Summer Internship. It is mandatory to have full availability during the summer months to apply.
- Right to Work: Applicants must possess EU/Spanish Citizenship or a valid Right to Work (RTW). Proof of eligibility will be required during the recruitment process.
