The Opportunity
On this Summer Placement you'll work alongside skilled professionals and from day one you will be working on real life meaningful projects - adding value to clients, while exploring challenges with curiosity and creativity.
You'll learn from others and begin creating your professional network ready for when you graduate. There are regular learning sessions with our leadership team, opportunities for site visits to local projects and all kinds of social events that will support your learning and development.
Our aim is to welcome as many students back into our other programmes, be that another internship or potential graduate position. This placement is the stepping-stone to your future.
As transport planners, our work engages with all modes of transport, from walking, wheeling and cycling to bus and rail planning and station design across the UK and globally. Our placement students will have the opportunity to gain insight into aspects of our business, this is including but not limited to:

Support planning applications through the decision-making and post-decision processes

Preliminary access and operational design advice

Large-scale data analysis using a range of industry standard software

Strategic transport advice for commercial and public sector clients

Strategic and local transport modelling, including pedestrian and traffic simulation modelling

Rail operations and planning
-
Stadium operations and event planning
-
National and regionally significant infrastructure projects
Our transport planning experts work side by side with specialists from a wide range of backgrounds, including environmental, planning and civil engineering. Many of our projects are boundary pushing and nationally significant.
We work hard to foster good relationships with everyone involved in the planning process – including national governments, regional partnerships or agencies, local planning authorities and developers as well the wider community and stakeholders.
Is this role right for you?
We are seeking the following qualifications, skills and attributes:
We are looking for candidates who are working towards a bachelor's degree in subjects relating to civil or other engineering, geography, planning, economics, mathematics, operational research, data/computer science with a prediction of 2:1 or higher or; data analytics or transport planning-based master's degree or other relevant topic with a prediction of pass or above is advantageous.
