Summer Placement Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C
As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the Enabling and Earthwork Section.
What will you do?
The Work Placement shall be expected to support the Engineering Team in their day-to-day activities, as well as shadowing the larger Engineering team i.e the support functions - Survey, Materials, Temporary Works, I&M, etc. The Work Placement shall gain further experience and knowledge of Engineering in the Construction Industry and understand the importance of cross-functional collaboration in construction.
What are we looking for?
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Engineering Team to perform daily tasks.
- Support the Survey Team in setting out and management of control points.
- Support the Materials Team in Lab and Field testing.
- Shadow the Engineering Teams to understand the day-to-day activities.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- GCSE in STEM based subjects (e.g. Maths, Physics, Engineering).
- Familiarity with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable
- Familiarity with engineering tools and software (e.g. AutoCAD, Navisworks, SolidWorks).
