Kids are seeking enthusiastic and adaptable Seasonal Workers to join our summer program, which is filled with fun and excitement. You’ll be part of our summer play schemes, assisting disabled children and young people aged 6 - 24 in playing, having fun, and experiencing an amazing summer.

Your responsibilities as a Play Worker will include

  • Assisting children and young people to engage in adventurous, creative, and imaginative play, in a secure and enriching environment.
  • Providing inclusive play opportunities and empowering young individuals to engage in activities of their choice
  • Creating and contributing to a working culture and practices that recognise, respect and value differences
  • Participating in a range of structured and free play activities, including supervising indoor and outdoor play
  • Listening, reflecting, and communicating appropriately and effectively with service users and colleagues, adapting your approach to suit individual communication styles.
  • Assisting with personal care needs, including feeding, toileting, and changing
  • Completing essential paperwork as requested,
  • Providing feedback on sessions for children and young people, both written and verbal.
  • Supervising children and young people to ensure their safety during play, outings, and transportation.
  • Adhering to KIDS policies and procedures, including child protection, safeguarding, and confidentiality
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory standards
  • Assist in ensuring our playground structures, facilities and equipment are safe and maintained.
  • Participating in required training, both online and onsite,
  • Keeping up-to-date with relevant Kids communications, both from your playground and from Kids National departments
  • Collaborating with experienced colleagues, and contributing to a remarkable team

About You

Essential Requirements:

  • Understanding of and commitment to equality of opportunity and diversity in practice and ability to apply this to practice.

  • Applicants must have some experience of working with Children and Young People

Essential Education/Qualifications

  • Educated to A-levels, NVQ/BTEC Level 3, as a minimum or relevant equivalent experiential knowledge.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Experience working with children/young people with disabilities/additional needs and their families.
  • Understanding and knowledge of meeting the complex needs of disabled children/young people.
  • Ability to work under pressure with patience and sensitivity.
  • Understanding of child protection issues.
  • Understanding of health and safety.
  • Understanding and competence in safeguarding procedures.
  • Understanding of the importance of confidentiality and professional boundaries

Desirable Education/Qualifications

  • Formal qualification in a Child care or Play related subject.
  • Current first aid certificate and/or food hygiene certificate

Locations

  • Wandsworth/ Chelsea Playworkers will be based on our sites in Clapham (SW11) and Battersea (SW3)
  • Hackney Playworkers will be based on site in Hackney (E5)
  • Hayward Playworkers will be based on site in Islington (N7)

Please note that this role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
