Support Worker - Graduate Programme Northern Ireland: 2027 Graduate Programme

This Support Worker-Graduate Programme position offers a fantastic opportunity to grow your professional skills and make a difference. The Support Worker will be a member of a multi-disciplined team using holistic approaches to support Depaul service users. Working within the principal of harm reduction where residents receive a high degree of care, support, and dignity, Depaul has a commitment to service user participation and to empowering residents to manage their own lives.

This role works across a 7-day week rota.

Responsibilities

• Encourage and support service users to develop skills in managing their daily living.
• In conjunction with residents and the rest of the team, ensure that the service is kept to a good standard of tidiness, cleanliness, and hygiene, including communal areas.
• Encourage service users to take responsibility for maintaining their own environment.
• Observe and attend key worker sessions with service users when required.
• Assist residents with personal monies, service charge payments, etc., where necessary in conjunction with the project team.
• Carry out project administration tasks such as upkeep of petty cash, project statistics, invoices, record keeping, Service User’s files, OTIS, IR, and AR completion, etc.
• Ensure that Health and Safety standards are met within the project in accordance with Depaul’s Health and Safety policy and the project's Safety Statement.
• Attend and participate in team meetings and staff team days.
• Participate in ongoing graduate programmes and events.

Personal Experience and Requirements

• Qualification in the Social Care field - Social Care, Psychology, Social Science, Criminology, or Community Development.
• Understand why people become homeless and the issues they present with, understanding what supports can be offered in homeless services to service users with complex support needs.
• Be a good communicator and computer literate.
• Knowledge and understanding of Depaul vision, mission, and values.
• Ability to work shifts.
• Relevant experience within the Community and Voluntary sector.

Desirable

• Driving Licence.
