Say hello to the NDA group graduate programme

Graduates are fundamental to our future. Our programme focuses on supporting talented and ambitious graduates to build a first-class foundation for a rewarding career in the nuclear sector.

Our graduate programme covers all aspects of nuclear decommissioning, from the breaking down of nuclear reactors, to the safe transport and treatment of waste, to the restoration of sites for new purposes.

Join the Sustainability Graduate Scheme and play a central role in building up robust sustainability initiatives to best manage the environmental impact of nuclear decommissioning. Every project you tackle will directly contribute to our commitment to work safely, sustainably and in harmony with the natural world.

A graduate sustainability advisor would need to encompass a range of competencies and knowledge areas. You should be able to demonstrate:

  • Appreciation of the interconnectedness of environmental, social, and economic systems.

  • Systems Thinking: problems must be holistically considered in the broader context and long-term consequences

  • Environmental Awareness: A solid foundation in environmental factors, such as knowledge in biodiversity and natural capital, climate change mitigation and adaptation

  • Socio-economic Awareness: knowledge of fundamentals of socio economics

  • Familiarity with policies and regulation on sustainability and the growing landscape of requirements

  • Effective Communication and Collaboration: graduates will engage with diverse stakeholders, including communities, businesses, workforce, and government agencies

  • Developing a Culture of Sustainability Leadership: knowledge of creating a cultural shift towards sustainability and purpose is desirable. Where sustainability is instinctively understood with a common goal which brings us closer to wellbeing for all.

As a Sustainability graduate, you will play a key role in driving the NDA group's Sustainability vision. We are recognised as a leader in transforming nuclear legacies into opportunities for local, regional and national sustainable development. Creating value through nuclear decommissioning - at pace, affordably, with participation and creatively. We have a legal, moral, and ethical responsibility to deliver our work sustainably with care for our people, communities, and the environment, leaving a positive legacy for future generations.

Recent graduates have developed and rolled out comprehensive sustainability plans to drive site-wide decarbonisation efforts, and managed energy and waste audits that uncover efficiency gains. They’ve reviewed compliance with complex nuclear legislation to ensure regulatory alignment, and authored site guidance documents that embed best sustainability practices across multiple facilities.

We are looking for individuals who can thrive in both collaborative and technical environments. If you have a passion for both sustainability and the nuclear sector, we highly encourage you to apply.
