What does this team do?

Audit matters to everyone, even if you've never heard the word before. When a company shares its financial results, people need to know those numbers are accurate. That's where audit comes in. We check company financial reports independently, so the public, investors and businesses can trust what they're seeing. It's a job that protects people, and it genuinely makes a difference.

In IT Audit, we help organisations identify and manage technology risks that could impact financial reporting and business performance. As an IT Auditor, you will identify technology-related risks, evaluate the effectiveness of IT controls and cybersecurity measures, and assess the impact of emerging technologies, such as AI, cloud computing, and automation, on an organisation's control environment. Working alongside financial audit teams and the companies we audits, you will provide practical insights that support high-quality audits and strengthen trust in technology-enabled processes.

You will gain exposure to a wide range of organisations, from large global businesses to smaller entities, developing both technical and professional skills. This role offers a unique opportunity to understand how technology supports business objectives. It will enable you to communicate complex technical concepts in a clear and impactful way.

By helping ensure the integrity of financial reporting, you will contribute to building confidence and trust in organisations and the wider market.

What skills and academic qualifications do I need?

You’ll need to have obtained or be studying towards a minimum 2:1 in any degree discipline and have graduated by September 2027 for the Autumn 2027 intake. We have identified 10 core skills that are essential to all of our roles in Early Careers.

What kind of work will I do?

As part of the IT Audit team, your responsibilities will include:

• Stakeholder management: Working in teams and building relationships both within the IT specialist team as well as financial audit and beyond.

• Risk Assessment: Identifying and evaluating risks associated with company’s use of technology.

• Control Testing: Assessing IT controls design and perform testing of implementation and operating effectiveness to provide assurance on smooth operation of controls throughout the review period. This includes gathering and analysing evidence in line with audit methodology and standards.

• Communication: Build effective working relationships across IT audit team, financial audit team, and the companies we audit to support the delivery of high-quality audits.

• Reporting: Communicate findings clearly and concisely, contributing to audit documentation, reporting, and stakeholder discussions.

• Innovation: Contributing to the continuous improvement of our audit processes, enhancing efficiency and providing greater insights to the companies we audit.

Where will I work?

At Deloitte we recognise how important face-to-face interaction is for your development in a new role. We also understand that our people need flexibility, which is why we operate a hybrid system, with a combination of office and home working. If you’re in a client-facing role, you might be expected to attend client sites on certain days, while your meetings will be a mix of online and in-person events. Please note your final assessment and induction will also be in-person, to give you the opportunity to network and build relationships.
