Graduate job

£25,000 - £30,000

We are looking for talented graduates to join our team as Trainee Analysts. As the economic regulator of publicly owned Scottish Water, we work to ensure that the industry is internationally admired for excellence and, through the investment it makes, is sustainable both today and for future generations.

It is an exciting time to join WICS and to be a part of the important work that we do for customers, communities and the wider water industry. Your analysis will help ensure Scotland’s sustainable future as we work collaboratively to transform the industry in the face of key challenges.

The work we do is highly varied, has a genuine impact and makes a real difference. With wide-ranging projects, each day brings new challenges and opportunities to develop.

We are entering into a new phase of ‘hybrid working’ which includes regular face-to-face team meetings and brainstorming sessions. Our registered office is in Stirling.

We welcome talented graduates with an upper second-class undergraduate honours degree (2:1) or higher in any discipline; however, a numerate based degree is desirable. We will also consider candidates with a 2:2 honours degree provided they have also attained a Master’s degree with Distinction.

Our graduates are:

  • Analytical problem solvers
  • Curious
  • Excellent communicators
  • Team players
  • Adaptable

You will be joining the organisation at an exciting and critical time as we determine charges for the 2027-33 regulatory control period. Your analysis as part of the Strategic Review of Charges will have a real impact in shaping the future of the water industry, ensuring that Scottish Water continues to deliver best value for Scotland.

You will be working on a wide range of projects from day one, from analysing Scottish Water’s performance to looking outwards at the performance of other companies and sectors. There will be opportunities to develop technical skills such as econometric modelling and data analysis, as well as broader skills such as team working, writing and presenting. As we are a small office, you will be able to see the direct contribution of your work.

You can start the application process by registering an account on our online recruitment platform.

After submitting the application form, you will be invited to an online analytical assessment. Initial interviews with our analytical team will start from week commencing 18 November and will be followed by an assessment centre on or around 5 December.
