Law training contract

To assist in providing quality legal advice to the firm's clients by appropriate supervision and training.
The role holder will be undertaking the Graduate Solicitor apprenticeship with a view to achieving full solicitor status within 27 months. They will commence performing junior tasks similar to those of a paralegal within their respective department with the opportunity to undertake more complex tasks as they become more competent in their role.
Throughout the programme, they will be allocated a senior sponsor with Irwin Mitchell who will provide the required support during their journey. They will also be supported by an Early Careers Manager to help ensure a seamless experience during their apprenticeship.
Key roles/responsibilities:
Speaking to new/potential clients and taking instructions from clients, assisting with the giving of legal advice, obtaining evidence, and, if necessary, assisting with litigation to achieve appropriate resolutions for clients.
- Providing quality legal advice to the firm's clients through appropriate supervision and training.
- Reviewing cases and other relevant matters with a supervisor to ensure the provision of quality legal advice and compliance with the firm's policies and procedures.
- Supporting case handlers in the overall management of cases.
- Attending and contributing to team/practice area meetings and complying with directions/decisions to achieve team objectives.
- Keeping up to date with changes in relevant law and practice, attending appropriate training events to maintain up-to-date legal knowledge and best practices.
- Participating in practice development initiatives and events to promote and develop the firm's practice.
- Carrying out any other duties as required by partners or senior members of the firm.
- Complying with all SRA rules and regulations, both present and future.
- Adhering to the firm's training policy, attending all training events as directed by the Organisational Development team/apprentice lead and/or reporting superiors.
- Following the firm's Performance Management policy, meeting performance targets, and implementing recommendations from appraisal interviews.
- Undertaking administrative casework on legal matters. • Assisting solicitors and partners in various legal matters, including research, drafting legal documents, and attending client meetings.
- Conducting legal research and analysis to support case preparation and strategy.
- Assisting with the management of client files to ensure accuracy and confidentiality.
- Drafting and reviewing legal correspondence, contracts, and other legal documents.
- Attending court hearings, tribunals, and other legal proceedings as required.
- Developing a comprehensive understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and legal procedures
Requirements
- 5 x GCSE A – C Passes or equivalent (including English and maths)
- Qualifying Law Degree and or PDGL
- Will undertake the SQE apprenticeship route (27-month programme) with SQE 1 & 2 as part of the training contract (if LPC not already taken)
