Training

Key Tasks

  1. Carry out all reasonable instructions from senior staff promptly and enthusiastically;
  2. Undertake certain elements of fee earning work under supervision;
  3. Acquiring and maintaining legal knowledge through training and development activity and ensuring compliance with professional development requirements of Regulator;
  4. To become confident in dealing with clients and other professionals and to learn the ability quickly to earn the trust of clients and others in all dealings;
  5. To provide a valuable contribution to the work of each department to which the trainee has been allocated a seat, to assist each training principal with his or her daily workload and to provide practice support both departmentally and generally within the firm;
  6. Complete the Professional Skills Course (PSC);
  7. Complete the Police Station Accreditation Qualification.
  8. Adhere to the terms of the Training Contract;
  9. File management in accordance with the Quality Procedures Manual and Lexcel requirements, as appropriate;
  10. Compliance with LAA contract requirements, as appropriate;
  11. Ensure the confidentiality and security of all firm and client documentation and information;
  12. To maintain high standards in the processing of client work, both in respect of professional standards and client care;
  13. Taking client instructions and providing high quality legal advice and assistance;
  14. Efficiently and effectively manage a personal caseload, where appropriate;
  15. Represent clients at hearings and at the police station, if appropriate, subject to rights of audience;
  16. Compliance with the SRA Code of Conduct and SRA Accounts Rules;
  17. Contributing to maintaining a safe and healthy working environment;
  18. Contribute to the smooth running of the office and maintaining/improving office procedures;
  19. Ensuring compliance with Equality and Diversity Policy;
  20. Any other duties which from time to time are required by the firm.

Person Specification

Desirable

  • Educated to degree standard
  • Driving Licence
  • Completed the Legal Practice Course (LPC) / Solicitors Qualifying Exam (SQE)
