We require a highly motivated individual who wishes to be trained as a transformer testing and commissioning engineer for both factory and site operations.

Rosh Engineering is a specialist electrical/mechanical contractor to the electrical supply industry and other large consumers of electricity. The company specialises in repair and refurbishment of power transformers and associated high voltage plant. Founded in 1981 the firm is based in Blaydon on Tyne. The company has developed a fully Integrated Management System for Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental to ISO45001, ISO9001 and ISO14001 and is dedicated to maintaining high standards.

As a trainee you will be working alongside one of our experience commissioning/test engineers, assisting in ensuring the correct testing, maintenance, and implementation, of transformer works on various projects and sites throughout the UK. The role is designed for you to gain sufficient knowledge, training, and expertise to eventually carry out the role in a stand-alone capacity.

Key Test Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with project engineers to develop transformer test plans.
  • Perform on-site inspection, testing, and troubleshooting of transformers.
  • Conduct pre-commissioning checks, ensuring all necessary safety measures are in place.
  • Conduct thorough functional and performance testing of transformers.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Prepare detailed test reports, including documentation and discussion of test results.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to clients and in-house staff.
  • Manage the commissioning process, adhering to project schedules and budgets.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and best practices for transformers.

Rosh Engineering is growing rapidly and in 2018 moved to larger premises expanding its capabilities for repairing transformers in its factory rather than purely on site. The growth is largely driven by work in the renewable energy sector. Further expansion in 2019 increased capacity and in 2021 the purchase of a neighbouring fabrication shop has transformed the company’s capabilities.

The terms and conditions are competitive. We are committed to providing a work environment to enable staff to continuously improve and to assist employees in contributing to their highest potential. Most of the senior management team all joined Rosh Engineering either as apprentices or new graduates. The development of your career is a shared responsibility where individuals, with guidance from the Company, plan their own future. Bonus schemes, enhanced holiday entitlement and regular training are available.
