Are you looking to gain exposure to high profile clients and top quality work? Would you like to work alongside lawyers who are experts in their field?

Our award winning training programme will take you further than you ever thought possible.

Application Process

The application for our 2026 Training Contract is a three step process:

- Written application form,
- Verbal Reasoning test (timed - 20 minutes),
- Situational Judgement test (unlimited time).

Please ensure that you complete all 3 steps before the deadline of the 21 June 2024 in order for your application to be considered.

If your application is successful, you will be invited to attend an Assessment Centre in our Bristol office on either the 23rd or 25th July 2024 only. Both Assessment Centres take place in-person only and due to the configuration of the Assessment Centre day, cannot take place remotely. Please be advised, if you are unable to attend on these dates, we will not be able to progress your application. We therefore recommend that you keep both of these dates free in the event that you are invited to attend an Assessment Centre.

Our vacation schemes are open to anyone who is eligible to apply for a training contract – regardless of your degree discipline or the length of time since you graduated.

Disability Confident Employer

As a Disability Confident Employer we actively encourage people with disabilities, long-term health conditions or impairments to apply for our roles. We regularly implement adjustments to assist people throughout the recruitment process, it's part of what we do.

We encourage you to disclose your disability, long-term health condition or impairment so we can provide great support during your application. We can make bespoke changes to assessments, interviews etc to ensure we provide you with an equal opportunity to shine in our recruitment process.

We have our recruitment processes regularly reviewed by disability specialist organisation WECIL to ensure we are inclusive and following the very best practice.

We will offer a place at one of our Assessment Centres to applicants who have a disability and meet our minimum scoring criteria for this role.

Please reach out to Penny Bowring (penny.bowring@burges-salmon.com) if you would like to discuss adjustments that we could make for you throughout the process.

An example of an adjustment that we could make at application stage, is providing you with extra time to complete the Verbal Reasoning test.

Application Eligibility

Please note, you are only eligible to apply for one training contract process at a time, within a recruitment cycle. For example, if you apply to our Winter 2023 Vacation Scheme and your application is unsuccessful, you are not eligible to apply for our Spring/Summer 2024 Vacation Scheme, or the Direct Training Contract 2026.
