World Nuclear Association is the trade association representing the global nuclear industry. Our mission is to facilitate the growth of the nuclear sector by connecting players across the value chain, representing the industry’s position in key world forums, and providing information and influencing key audiences. Our membership is made up of more than 250 companies based in 44 countries across all continents, with the Secretariat based in Central London.
Our Roles
We have two opportunities for undergraduate or postgraduate students with excellent research, writing, communication, and organisational skills to join our Communication & Marketing (C&M), and Leadership and Capacity Development (L&CD) teams on a 12-month placement. In these roles, you will support either the C&M department with its external campaigns and communication strategies, or the delivery of the flagship World Nuclear Association Summer Institute and alumni events.
Communication & Marketing Analyst
Key Responsibilities
- Write engaging and persuasive content for email, web, social, newsletters, and other communications.
- Develop visual assets and infographics for LinkedIn and member communications, using creative tools such as Canva.
- Create and review external presentations to ensure they are produced to a high standard and consistent with branding and messaging guidelines.
- Support press function, monitoring inboxes, maintaining contact lists, and response database.
- Support with editing videos and familiarity with a video editing tool such as Microsoft ClipChamp, Adobe Premiere or Final Cut would be advantageous.
- Research world energy and nuclear energy trends to help update the information library with potential to support World Nuclear News team.
- Actively propose and draft website articles and social media posts.
- Support ongoing external communication activities, including the planning and execution of events, ensuring all activities are delivered on time.
- Provide general support including updating website pages in content management systems (CMS), and maintaining databases of presentations, images, and videos.
- Digital native who is able to quickly pick up new platforms. Confidence to self-teach and be able to quickly navigate around new platforms is essential.
- Work with other World Nuclear Association departments and colleagues to ensure the effectiveness of Association’s activities in the relevant topic areas.
Leadership & Capacity Development Analyst
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, edit and proofread content for WNU and workforce communications across email, web, social channels, newsletters and programme materials.
- Support marketing and outreach campaigns for the Summer Institute and other L&CD initiatives, including preparing contact lists, drafting outreach, tracking responses, and maintaining records.
- Maintain and improve website and social media content (including basic SEO and accessibility checks), working with internal colleagues and suppliers where needed.
- Overseeing and administering the WNU shared inbox.
- Help create year-round alumni and stakeholder content such as short profiles, case studies, quotes, and event highlights that bring the WNU community to life.
- Support event communications and delivery, including speaker briefs, joining instructions, participant packs, and on-the-day materials.
- Assist with venue research and the development of scouting trip itineraries for WNU programmes.
- Monitor and report on performance (for example website analytics, email engagement, and social metrics) and help the team turn this into practical improvements.
- Provide general support including organizing content libraries, maintaining simple templates, and coordinating with Communications & Marketing colleagues on record maintenance and brand consistency.
- Where appropriate, contribute to our Talent and Workforce Development Working Group by researching comparative approaches across countries and organizations, and translating findings into clear draft content for briefings, reports, and outreach materials.
Profile
We are looking for students who are studying, or have graduated, in the following studies:
- C&M
- Energy Policy, Physics, International Relations, Politics, History, Philosophy, Journalism or Creative Writing or related subjects
- L&CD
- Communications, Marketing, International Relations, Public Policy, Education, Business, Journalism or a related discipline
All applications should have excellent English written and oral communication skills, a high level of attention to detail, and a keen interest in the nuclear industry.
