Apply
If you think we sound like the right choice for you, we would be delighted to receive an application from you.
Our requirements
We’ve removed our minimum academic requirements. Whilst we do look at academic performance, we look at the strength of your application as a whole, rather than just the individual parts.
Application Process
The first step is to complete an online application form. Provided this meets our initial requirements, we’ll send you the links to three online reasoning tests, which aim to test your verbal, critical and numerical reasoning. You will have the chance to take a practice test first to get used to the style.
If your test scores meet our requirements, you will be progressed through to a video interview stage, details of which will be sent to you via email. The final stage of the recruitment process will be an assessment centre or interview.
Application hints and tips
Your online application is your first chance to make an impression. It allows us to get an insight into you as an individual and it’s an excellent opportunity for you to demonstrate your skills, drive and career aspirations.
Before you start your application, be sure to take a look at our graduate and corporate website to learn about our core business lines, key clients and to identify your areas of interest. You can then make reference to these in your application form.
To complete the online application form you will be asked to detail your academic results and any work experience. You will also need to complete a few competency-based questions, which will help us learn more about your strengths, interests, and achievements.

Culture and values
Real estate for real impact
Avison Young is built on the belief that commercial real estate isn’t just about the buildings and the square footage and the occupancies. At its best it’s about spaces and places that improve lives and help businesses thrive; for the employees, citizens and communities that make impact matter. We strive to be real estate at its best, helping people be more productive, prosperous and positive.
The service breadth to meet any need
Every client needs their own mix of real estate services and expertise. Our teams are equipped to bring insights and advantage to your business needs through advisory and planning, management and financing, investment sales, leasing, and property management services for clients across the office, retail, industrial, multi-family and hospitality sectors.
The people to make it happen
As a growing and innovative challenger in global commercial real estate, we attract the best talent in our industry – planners, advisors, brokers, marketers, support. But being the best isn’t just about having the best; it’s also about how we work together. Our longstanding culture of collaboration, and the fact we’re majority owned by our Principals, means we put the client first. Our Principal-led teams wrap themselves around our clients – driven by shared success. We work together to get it done.
The scale to make it count
We are on a continual journey of transformation – listening to clients – combining the best of our established talent with emerging tools and technologies. Headquartered in Toronto, Canada, the firm comprises approximately 5,000 real estate professionals in more than 100 offices around the world. The momentum in our business demonstrates that our model of smart collaboration and partnership works.
The values to make it matter
Founded in 1978 to create a more accountable and nimble real estate company, with legacies dating back more than 200 years, we will never outgrow our values of putting people first in every choice we make. Our purpose is to create net economic, social and environmental gain for our clients and in the communities in which we work.
Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
Avison Young is committed to each and every employee feeling valued whilst working here. Amongst other programmes, Avison Young has a highly successful mentoring programme available to all employees from the first day they start with us, employee engagement surveys to continually understand what our people are feeling and experiencing, and multiple employee resource groups to provide opportunities to network and create more inclusive workplaces.
Our biggest internal employee resource groups are:
The global women’s network – Limitless
FOLX – our LGBTQIA+ network
BPRG – Black Professional Resource Group
We have run and continue to plan multiple events yearly internally and externally to showcase the work of all professionals within all our employee resource groups and support clients with their DEI commitments.
Avison Young has partnered with Black Professionals in Construction (BPIC) to improve ethnic minority representation as well as retention in the industry. Avison Young hosted the “Power of Visibility” event, the first event of the year with BPIC in January 2023. Avison Young regularly hosts National Association of Women in Construction events at their Gresham Street head office.
We are founding partners of external social mobility networks Changing the Face of Property (CTFOP) and Firm Foundations, where extensive work is taking place to widen the access into the Commercial Real Estate industry through schools and colleges nationwide.
From 2020, Diversity and unconscious bias training is mandatory for all our employees and senior leaders role model best practice behaviours. We ensure our “family friendly” policies are benchmarked against not only our peers but also best in class across all sectors.
Our recruitment processes are currently going through independent review to ensure unconscious and conscious bias is removed from the process from attraction to offer being made. This includes the language used on our job adverts, ensuring the right split on the hiring panels and oversight on hires made. Extensive work has taken place to review our graduate recruitment process including liaising with universities and students to actively gain feedback on gaps in the process and where improvements can be made.
As a registered Disability Confident Employer, we ensure all reasonable adjustments are made for those who need them in the recruitment process and actively seek feedback on where we can do better. We have worked with Leonard Cheshire in their assessment centres to support graduates with disabilities gaining internships across all sectors, giving us further understanding on how to support those with visible and non visible disabilities at Avison Young.
Our global and UK Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Council’s provide oversight and feedback to multiple projects taking place across the business to ensure DEI is at the heart of decisions made at Avison Young.
