British Young Pilots is a nationwide flying club for children and teenagers, run through weekend and evening clubs in schools, universities and community venues across the UK. Its aim is to make aviation accessible to young people, whether they dream of a career in the skies, want to earn a pilot's licence, or simply love flying.Each course combines theory with practical skills. Students learn the basics of flying and navigation, including physics, meteorology and how aircraft work. They practise flying on flight simulators with the help of instructors, so they learn the skills before moving to a real aircraft, which keeps costs down for parents. Optional flights in a real aircraft are available at an additional cost.New starters begin with the one-term Wings syllabus, and students who want to continue can progress through Levels 1 to 4, each spanning two terms. By Level 4, students reach National Private Pilot Licence (NPPL) standard, and a committed student can gain their licence by the age of 17.

Beyond flying skills, the clubs help children build confidence and make friends with other young people who share their interest in aviation.
