We expose hidden thought patterns

The need for sustainable mobility solutions

Driven by the megatrends of urbanization, digitization, globalization, and demographic change, the demand for mobility will continue to increase rapidly. At the same time, there is an intensifying need to mitigate climate change, as well as the depletion of natural resources, to shape a sustainable and liveable future. It is one of our central motivations at Siemens Mobility to act decisively and introduce sustainability standards that enable decarbonization and dematerialization of the entire mobility value chain. By integrating solutions for our customers and implementing measures in our own company, we are creating added value related to decarbonization, resource efficiency and the societal use of railways. This will also strengthen the competitiveness of our industry in the process. This holistic, business-centric sustainability management recently earned us the highly coveted platinum medal in the EcoVadis Sustainability Rating 2023, leading the rail industry and ranking in the top 1 percent of all assessed companies.

As a company, we support our customers in generalizing carbon-neutral passenger and freight transport, from door to door, in cities, and in-between: With rolling stock, rail infrastructure, intermodal solutions, rail services, and turnkey solutions. We play our part by utilizing energy-efficient products and accelerating alternative propulsion systems that use battery or hydrogen technology. Our customers also enjoy the benefits of increased asset value through our lifecycle management strategy; this in turn reduces the ecological footprint of their operations.
