Future-ready skills. Day one impact. Start your career at the heart of global banking.

Who we are

We’re a global bank connecting clients to our differentiated network, offering growth opportunities in the world’s most dynamic markets.

Our strategy, which combines cross-border capabilities and leading wealth management expertise, helps us deliver our purpose – to deliver commerce and prosperity through our unique diversity. With more than 80,000 colleagues across 53 global markets, we’ve been in business for more than 170 years and are a Fortune 500 company.

We believe that your career should be built on what you can do, and who you have the potential to become. That’s why our early careers programmes are designed to help you build future-focused skills through meaningful work and hands-on experience from day one.

Values & culture

Our Valued Behaviours represent who we are at our best. When we strive to always do the right thing by our clients and stakeholders, when we choose to never settle, and when we make the connections that ensure we are better together - we will fuel the client centricity, innovation, and collaboration that will define our next phase of growth.

Benefits

In line with our Fair Pay Charter, we offer competitive salaries and benefits that fully reflect your skills and experience and support your mental, physical, financial and social wellbeing. Salaries are reviewed annually in the context of your performance assessment, market considerations and overall affordability. Benefits include core bank funding for retirement, medical and life insurance, with flexible and voluntary benefits available in some locations. Time off in the UK includes 30 days of annual leave, excluding bank holidays, with the option to buy more, and generous parental, sabbatical and volunteering leave.

We also offer proactive wellbeing support through Unmind, a market-leading digital wellbeing platform.

Equity, diversity & inclusion

Our inclusive culture and our valued behaviours are essential building blocks for driving commerce and prosperity. We strive to be a great place to work and a great place to bank, while also supporting the communities where we operate.  We believe people do their best work when they can draw on their lived experiences. We have six Global Colleague Communities designed to strengthen connection, engagement and impact.

Personal development

The world of work is changing rapidly, which means success isn't just about what you know today – it's about how well you can learn, adapt and grow throughout your career. That's why our approach to development focuses on building future-ready skills alongside technical expertise.

During your programme, you'll develop the knowledge needed for your role, but you'll also build broader capabilities such as commercial awareness, leadership, adaptability and collaboration. These are the skills that help people succeed across different roles, teams and career stages.

You'll be encouraged to step outside of your comfort zone, take ownership of meaningful work and develop the confidence to contribute your ideas and perspectives.

We don't expect you to arrive with all the answers. What matters is your willingness to learn, your curiosity to explore new opportunities and your ability to keep developing as the world around you evolves.

Our goal is to help you build skills that create value today while preparing you for the opportunities and challenges you'll face throughout your career.

Application process

Once you’ve found the right role for you and submitted your application online, you’ll be invited to complete our Skills Insight Assessment. These cover behavioural and reasoning questions, to see how you approach challenges, work with others and solve problems.

If you’re successful at this stage, you’ll be invited to take our Workplace Scenario Assessment, recording video responses to situations you may encounter at Standard Chartered.

And finally, successful applicants will be invited to an in-person Assessment Centre at our offices, where you’ll meet our team and take part in multiple interviews and activities throughout the half-day experience.
