American Express

Equal opportunities and diversity

As a global company, it is vital to our success that our employees are as diverse as the customers and communities we serve. American Express has built a diverse workforce and an inclusive workplace— a culture we are committed to continuing.

Through our Global Diversity & Inclusion strategy, we’re able to channel our efforts in specific ways. We aspire to continue to develop a talent pool that brings together unique perspectives, backgrounds and experiences. We foster a workplace culture where differences are valued and expressed freely and all employees have the support they need to take risks, learn, and collaborate.

Our Colleague Networks have played a pivotal role in creating an inclusive culture where all colleagues can thrive since 1987. Today, we have 16 Colleague Networks with more than 100 chapters globally. Our differences are what shape the world, and we’re committed to ensuring everyone feels seen and heard. That’s why we’re dedicated to cultivating an inclusive and diverse workplace where every voice is valued, teamwork is rewarded, and everyone feels like they belong. By doing the work to understand each other better, we’re able to spark creativity and innovations that improve life for our colleagues, Card Members, and the communities we serve. Beyond raising awareness about inclusivity and unconscious bias, the training motivates and educates our colleagues to build inclusive, high-performing teams and invest in under-represented talent.
