About The Role
National Grid operates enough interconnector capacity to power around 8 million UK homes. Big projects mean big numbers. That's why we need the right people behind these subsea engineering marvels.

We’re offering a 12-month Industrial Placement situated in the vital and strategic environment of National Grid Ventures. This placement is an opportunity to work within our Commercial Operations in Project Delivery team which plays an essential role in maintaining the reliability and commerciality of our energy assets, with a strong focus on safety and efficiency.
Your responsibilities will cover a range of functions, including administration of our systems, reporting, dashboard creation, process improvement, project administration and other areas. This will give you great exposure to different disciplines and fields, including:

During your placement, you’ll work in our Commercial, Customer and Regulation team at National Grid Ventures. You will develop skills in project management, reporting and stakeholder management, as well as gaining an understanding of commercial operations and systems management principles. You will also become proficient in various systems and software including SharePoint, PowerPoint, and other systems that we use.
This placement is ideal for someone looking to improve their Excel skills, working to deadlines and contributing to teamwork. Whilst gaining practical experience, developing their skills, and establishing a good foundation for a career in operations, projects or systems within the energy sector. Our Industrial Placement
Our 12-month Industrial Placement offers you the opportunity to kickstart your career within the energy sector and discover your unique superpower. Throughout your placement, you’ll receive a tailored development programme designed to support your growth and development. This includes a combination of in-person and virtual training sessions led by our development team, as well as access to a range digital learning tools to help further enhance your skills.
Throughout your placement you’ll have opportunity to make connections amongst your cohort as well as regular check ins with a mentor and our Early Careers Team. Day-to-day, your placement manager will provide you access to a variety of on-the-job opportunities where you’ll take on real assignments and projects to make a genuine impact within your respective function. By the end of your placement, you’ll have developed your understanding of our business and the energy sector for your future career.
What you'll need to apply
You'll need to be in your penultimate year at University, on track to achieve a minimum 2:2 in any degree discipline. You'll need to commit to completing a 12-month Industrial Placement that will begin June 2026 and be eager to apply your knowledge in a real-world setting.
You'll need adaptability to travel within role and throughout your placement as required.
Location
This role is based in National Grid Ventures House, Warwick and may offer adaptable hybrid working, where possible.
