What does this team do?
Our Actuarial, Pensions and Reward team is a rapidly growing team of actuaries, employee benefits specialists, corporate pension advisors and modelling experts. They provide audit and assurance services to those responsible for pension schemes and corporate pension advice.
As pension specialists, you’ll get the opportunity to work in a national practice based in Belfast, with many different learning and development options available. From the start, you’ll take on interesting and challenging work, enabling you to develop personally and professionally within the pensions industry.
What skills and academic qualifications do I need?
This programme is for university students who are doing well academically and want to test their skills in the real world.
You’ll need to have achieved a minimum of Maths A Level Grade B, and you need to be on track to achieve a predicted degree classification of 2:1 or above in a numerical or scientific discipline. You must also be in the penultimate year of your course.
If you’re fascinated by business and can’t wait to get stuck into complex projects that make a difference, you’ll fit right in.
We have identified 10 core skills that are essential to all our roles in Early Careers.
What kind of work will I do?
For 12 months you’ll be a key part of our business – training and working alongside our first-year graduates. You’ll do real work from day one, using what you’ve learnt at university to help solve complex problems. You’ll help us push boundaries and learn skills that will set you up for an exciting career.
You'll get involved with different organisations, enabling you to increase your market knowledge across many different sectors.
You will work with some of the world’s most recognisable names, including companies publicly listed on the London Stock Exchange. You’ll also have the opportunity to work with some of the UK’s most innovative start-ups and privately-owned businesses.
You’ll work alongside our team of pensions specialists, learning to independently perform pensions liability calculations and getting involved in auditing corporate accounts.
You’ll work on the preparation of audit documentation, present findings and participate in wider pensions, reward, HR and analytics projects.
You will also contribute to advising corporates on their pension reporting and assist wider Deloitte teams in the merger and acquisition space.
Where will I work?
At Deloitte we recognise how important face-to-face interaction is for your development in a new role. We also understand that our people need flexibility, which is why we operate a hybrid system, with a combination of office and home working. If you’re in a client-facing role, you might be expected to attend client sites on certain days, while your meetings will be a mix of online and in-person events. Please note your final assessment and induction will also be in-person, to give you the opportunity to network and build relationships.
All our workspaces are accessible, however, if you require further flexibility due to a health condition or caring responsibilities, please discuss this with our team. You can find further information on our parent and carer policies here.
