Say hello to the NDA group graduate programme
Graduates are fundamental to our future. Our programme is dedicated to supporting talented and ambitious graduates in building a first-class foundation for a rewarding career in the nuclear sector.
As a Dounreay Direct Entry graduate, you will be given the unique opportunity to experience multiple secondments within Nuclear Restoration Services’ Dounreay site, accelerating your expertise in your chosen discipline, and learning from leading experts on work that has real impact. You will also participate in a core programme of behavioural development to enhance your skills and professional expertise and network with peers across the NDA group.
As a Civil Engineer NDA Group Graduate at Dounreay, you’ll join an exciting team tackling some of the most diverse and technically challenging infrastructure projects in the UK’s nuclear sector. From modifying aging structures to enable safe waste retrievals to designing new waste-packaging plants, you’ll work across chemical plants, research centres, reactor sites and waste management facilities. Each location brings its own complexities whether it’s a 1940s reactor hall, a coastal waste store or a high-security material processing unit. You’ll apply modern engineering principles to solve problems that no two sites present in the same way. You’ll have unparalleled opportunities for professional growth as you help shape the future of nuclear safety.
You’ll also participate in a core programme of behavioural development, where you’ll strengthen your leadership, communication and stakeholder-management skills. Meanwhile, we’ll support your journey toward Chartered Engineer status, setting you up for both technical specialism and future leadership roles within the organisation.
Recent graduates have had a variety of fantastic opportunities to develop their industry skills and technical competencies. They assessed corrosion and humidity rates in reactor buildings to guide maintenance strategies, reporting on building defects to inform remediation plans, and carrying out wind load calculations to verify structural resilience. They reviewed contractor drawings and technical calculations for critical modifications, devised bespoke lifting methods to handle heavy components safely, and used 3D models to perform rebar quality checks before concrete pours. These experiences are not exhaustive but give a glimpse into what exciting prospects await in this Graduate Scheme.
We are looking for individuals who can thrive in both collaborative and technical environments. If you have a demonstrable set of technical skills and a passion for the nuclear sector, we highly encourage you to apply.
