The Program
The Commercial Development Program (CDP) is a structured, multi-year rotational program designed to develop Tricon’s next generation of commercial leaders. Built for individuals with strong analytical ability, commercial intensity, and a drive to operate in fast-moving global markets, the program provides immersive exposure to the physical commodities business across trading-adjacent functions.
Participants will rotate through core commercial areas, gaining hands-on experience in how physical trades are structured, executed, priced, and risk-managed. The program blends on-the-job learning with formal training, mentorship from senior commercial professionals, and ongoing performance feedback to prepare participants for long-term careers in Tricon’s commercial organization, with progression toward trader-facing or commercial roles.
Program Duration: 2 to 3 years
Start Date: August / September 2026
Rotational Experience
Operations
- Exposure to end-to-end commodity operations across global trade flows
- Contract execution, logistics coordination, documentation, and settlement processes
- Interaction with traders, counterparties, logistics providers, and internal teams
- Understanding physical delivery, operational risks, and control frameworks
Market Intelligence
- Market analysis, price monitoring, and benchmark tracking
- Supply and demand fundamentals across regions and products
- Analysis of industry trends, trade flows, and geopolitical developments
- Support for commercial strategy development and trading ideas
Risk Management
- Monitoring market risk, exposures, and position limits
- Preparing P&L, position, and risk reports
- Supporting risk governance, controls, and compliance processes
- Analyzing risk drivers and potential impacts on trading performance
- Collaborating with traders and commercial teams to promote risk-aware decisions
Qualifications
This program is intentionally challenging and designed for individuals who are motivated by global markets, complex problem-solving, and accountability.
Minimum Requirements
- Recent or soon-to-be graduates
- Degree in a relevant field including, but not limited to:
- Business, Finance, Economics, or Supply Chain
- Chemical Engineering
- Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or Analytics
- Other quantitative or commercially focused disciplines
- Strong academic performance demonstrating analytical rigor and intellectual curiosity
- Fluency in English (written and spoken)
Core Competencies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with incomplete or ambiguous information
- Commercial mindset and genuine interest in global trade and commodity markets
- Mental agility and resilience in fast-paced, high-accountability environments
- Ability to make sound decisions under time pressure and take ownership of outcomes
- Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to work across cultures and functions
- High level of integrity, curiosity, and willingness to continuously learn
- Drive and self-motivation, with a proactive attitude and willingness to take ownership
