Are you ready to take on a real-world commercial role with significant responsibility?

We have a 12-month placement position for a student to join our team where you’ll play a key role in supporting the procurement and commercial activities for one of the world’s biggest defence companies.

What you'll be doing:

  • Procurement & Sourcing: You'll be involved in running supplier competitions, evaluating bids, vetting responses, and making sourcing recommendations. You’ll also identify potential risks and negotiate contracts to ensure the best value for money for our customers.

  • Negotiation Support: You'll support and participate in negotiations under the guidance of senior team members, preparing and completing negotiations within approved limits. You'll gain hands-on experience leading fact-finding activities, negotiating agreements, and following up on outcomes.

  • Commercial Planning: Be part of the planning and approval processes for negotiations and work to ensure all agreements are completed accurately and on time, with high attention to detail.

  • Documentation & Reporting: You’ll maintain accurate records of all negotiations, correspondence, and contracts, ensuring compliance with established processes. Additionally, you’ll generate reports supporting supplier performance monitoring.

  • Good communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Required skills, qualifications and experience

  • Working towards business studies, business management or Law degree.

  • Great interpersonal skills to build and maintain positive relationships across the various stakeholder groups.

  • Presentation skills

  • Confidence with using various IT operating systems (e.g. Windows, Excel, Word).
