We want you to get the best out of your placement, so we operate a hybrid policy where undergraduates work in the office 3 days per week. There may be times where you will need to be in more frequently depending on the needs of the business.
To apply for our undergraduate placement scheme, you must be studying for an undergraduate degree that requires a placement year. Master’s students are not eligible for this placement. Please consider before applying if you live more than 60 minutes away from post code MK15 8HG, that you would need to relocate to either Milton Keynes or be a commutable distance (within 60 minutes commute).
Our Credit Risk team plays a pivotal role in working with the data produced by the business to identify and monitor credit risk across all Volkswagen Financial Services portfolios. As the Credit Risk Undergraduate you will create and deliver reports for management to explain the story behind the numbers. Our team has responsibility for credit risk management and are a key part in ensuring the financial success of Volkswagen Financial Services UK. If you are passionate about data analysis, problem-solving, eager to take on real responsibilities, and thrive in a supportive and challenging environment, these placements could be for you.
What will you be doing?
- Conduct business testing when implementing new or enhancing existing Credit Risk strategies, e.g. testing new credit scorecards which are used to predict the likelihood of new and existing customers entering default
- Summary reporting, including performance reports for the underwriting team and reporting pack for the Credit and Lending Risk Committee
- Provide Risk support to strategic projects, predominantly business testing of new systems and products
- Ad hoc reporting and analysis to support the Credit Risk function and the wider business
- Support the wider Risk team to investigate and explain any movements in the retail portfolio and monthly credit risk provision
What are we looking for?
- You will be studying towards a degree, preferably Economics or Business related
- Good knowledge of Excel and willingness to learn other data reporting programmes
- Have excellent organisation skills with the ability to deal with a variety of tasks
- Use your own initiative to answer questions and solve issues
- Be able to communicate clearly with the business both verbally and in writing
- Be able to analyse, interpret data and communicate your findings

What Our Recruitment Process Looks Like
- Apply and upload your CV, covering letter and answer a few application questions.
- You’ll be invited to complete a Situational Judgement Test. This is a short multiple-choice question set to help us understand how you may approach situations.
- If you pass this stage, you will be invited to complete an online video interview where you will have the opportunity to tell us more about yourself.
- If successful, your last step in the journey is to attend an in-person Assessment Centre at our Milton Keynes office. You’ll also meet some of our managers and our current undergraduates to find out more about a placement year with us.
Please note: Our undergraduate placement roles do not meet the UKVI’s criteria for the skilled worker sponsorship route, therefore we are unable to accept candidates requiring sponsorship for this role.
