If you are an ambitious go-getter who enjoys solving problems and learning new skills, our 12-month Data & Analytics Industrial Placement in Finance provides a clear pathway into a rewarding career in banking.
You'll spend the year with our Data & Systems team, learning coding techniques, completing change requests to existing reporting, and be involved in projects to rebuild or develop new reporting and forecasting.
You’ll also attend development workshops and complete a project with other Industrial Placements aligned to our Social Impact strategy. Our Industrial Placements provide a valuable opportunity to prepare for our Skills Development Programmes once you finish university.

Where you’ll be working
Our Finance function ensures we spend our customers’ money wisely. We provide financial partnering services, produce statutory and regulatory reporting, raise wholesale funds & maintain liquidity. We also provide lending for social housing, deliver a financial plan, manage stress testing requirements, and provide and maintain financial systems and technology.
We help ensure Nationwide’s financial and prudential reporting and analysis systems meet the requirements to produce business critical and regulatory reports. The team works closely with data and IT teams across Nationwide to develop solutions and access new technologies to improve performance.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll work in our Data & Systems team, learning coding techniques, completing change requests and working across other bespoke projects.
You’ll also work on a bespoke 12-month project aligned to our Social Impact strategy to develop new skills and apply them in a different context to your day job. You’ll build a strong network as you work alongside colleagues from across the organisation.
Location

For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, based at our Swindon head office.

About you

You’ll thrive in this Industrial Placement if you have:
- Knowledge and interest in a coding language (e.g. VBA, SAS, Python)
- An inquisitive mind and an aptitude for problem solving
- Experience using Microsoft Excel
- A strong team ethos
- Strong organisational skills to plan and deliver work with attention to detail
- Determination and drive to make a difference
- Good time management and prioritisation skills for working in a fast-paced environment.
- You want to get involved in activities across the Finance teams, such as working with our recognition team or Network and Knowledge events.
You must be studying toward an undergraduate degree in any discipline.
