Role Overview

Spacemann is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Design Engineering Intern to support our growing design and engineering team. This role offers hands-on experience in 3D CAD design, manufacturing processes, and product development, working closely with experienced engineers and our production facility.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop practical skills in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design engineering team in producing 2D drawings and 3D CAD models using SolidWorks

  • Assist in updating and maintaining existing product data, drawings, and documentation

  • Help prepare and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs)

  • Work alongside engineers to develop standard and bespoke product designs

  • Support prototyping, testing, and design iterations

  • Assist in organising and maintaining the SolidWorks PDM system

  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities and design optimisations

  • Liaise with the manufacturing team to understand production processes and constraints

Learning & Development Opportunities

  • Gain hands-on experience with industry-standard tools including SolidWorks and PDM systems

  • Develop understanding of manufacturing processes and production workflows

  • Learn about design validation techniques such as basic simulation and testing

  • Exposure to automation tools such as DriveWorks

  • Build practical engineering and problem-solving skills in a real-world environment

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Basic understanding of CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)

  • Studying towards or recently completed a degree in Engineering, Product Design, or similar

  • Great attention to detail and willingness to learn

  • Good communication and teamwork skills

Desirable:

  • Awareness of manufacturing processes

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)

  • Exposure to CAD assemblies and technical drawings
