We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven graduate to join our pastoral team as a Director of Studies.

As a Director of Studies, you will play a key role in the academic, social and personal welfare of a cohort of students. You will support them in monitoring and encouraging their progress, tracking and enhancing their performance, as well as advising them on their career choices and UCAS applications.

This is an integral role in the MPW colleges and offering to our students, and a great opportunity for a graduate to gain experience in mentoring and coaching.

About The Role

You will:

  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of all students at MPW London
  • Provide pastoral and academic support to a cohort of students, including writing references, covering reports and other correspondence with parents and guardians
  • Hold one-to-one meetings with your students throughout each term to discuss their academic progress, involvement with extra-curricular activities, and university applications
  • Teach up to 12 hours of group or individual classes each week
  • Support with interviewing prospective students and their parents, taking up references from previous schools and keeping them up to date with their former students progress
  • Assist with the organisation of events such as prize-giving, parents evenings, Open Days and A Level options seminars
  • Reinforce by general conduct and teaching the aims and values of the college as a whole and engage with the extra-curricular aspects of college life.

About You

You have:

  • An undergraduate degree
  • An infinity with and understanding of the needs of young people aged 14+
  • An approachable, friendly, and professional communication style, both orally and in writing
  • Confidence in using Microsoft Office, as well as online systems/databases
  • Involvement in and support for the promotion of extra-curricular activities
  • Awareness of the likely developments affecting Key Stage 4 and post-16 levels
  • Patience and perseverance, and a commitment to the overcoming barriers to learning
  • An inspiring, confident and positive attitude to maintaining student discipline and well being
  • A team-focused attitude, and a willingness to support others
