Help design the electricity system of the future
At SP Energy Networks, our Distribution System Operation (DSO) teams are key to operating a smarter, more flexible electricity network. As a Graduate Engineer, you’ll help develop innovative engineering solutions that support low-carbon technologies and enable the transition to a decentralised energy system.
You’ll gain hands-on experience across project and office environments, using engineering and analytical skills to support engineering, commercial, and market solutions. You will also contribute to project delivery, and analyze data to generate business insights and support strategy development.
Working closely with internal and external teams, you’ll support key engineering activities, stakeholder engagement, and the delivery of key DSO projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
What you’ll be doing

- Supporting the delivery of projects, through both engineering and project management skills

- Provide insights that support regulatory reporting, key submissions, consultations, and stakeholder engagement
- Collaborate closely with internal and external teams to produce DSO outputs and present on findings
What you’ll bring
- A 2:2 or above in Electrical, Mechanical, Power Systems, Chemical, Design or Industrial engineering, or Civil Engineering.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and people skills
- Interest in energy systems, engineering, and utilities will help you thrive in this strategic and forward-looking environment.
- Experience with tools such as Python or Power BI is advantageous.

What’s in it for you?
- Structured development and mentoring
- Support toward professional accreditation
- Opportunities to work on nationally significant infrastructure and policy projects
- A career that blends engineering, strategy, and sustainability
- Gain hands-on experience across both our office and site environments. While training is primarily office or site-based, you’ll enjoy increasing flexibility as you move beyond the programme and into your career.
