Environment and Carbon Neutrality Engineer Graduate Scheme 2025
Graduate scheme
•£37,302
The Automotive Industry is changing more rapidly than ever with the need to decarbonise and develop a circular economy for our operations, products and services. This is an exciting time to join the Environment Innovation Team and as a Graduate, you’ll have opportunities to lead projects in a vehicle manufacturing environment. This role is aligned with Toyota’s Global Environmental Challenge 2050.
Your Time Here:
The Toyota Graduate programme is designed to help you develop your personal and technical capabilities prior to becoming an engineer and industry professional. It's a challenging programme where you’ll receive plenty of support from your mentor, managers, and colleagues. Within the Environment Innovation Team, you work alongside experienced engineers and will get to see the breadth of our business, working on valuable projects from day one. Typically, the role involves decarbonisation, energy reduction, material reduction, reuse and recycling through:
- Benchmarking other organisations and identifying improvement opportunities.
- Analysing data and using problem solving skills.
- Application of digital technologies to support data analytics.
- Implementing process kaizen and new technologies.
- Supporting the introduction of new vehicle and new service projects.
- Collaborating with external partners and wider Toyota to develop new technologies and better management practices.
- Supporting and developing strategic direction to deliver longer term goals.
What we look for:
With a consistently excellent academic record, with a minimum 2:1 predicted degree result*, we are looking for people who continuously want to learn from others and are motivated to take on new challenges with a positive mindset. We believe that there's always a better way, therefore if you share our values and thrive on analysing problems from different angles to develop solutions, you could go a long way with us. Similarly, taking a practical approach to your work is important – you will need to be as comfortable on the shop floor as you are in the office, conducting "go-look-see” activities to visualise problems and logically apply countermeasures with supporting data. You will often be leading and co-ordinating others in mixed teams of Production, Maintenance and Engineers, therefore good interpersonal skills and effective communication are essential to ensure teamwork across projects.
*Environmental Engineering, Energy engineering, Chemical Engineering, or similar degree discipline required.
