Role description
Commencing July 2026 & October 2026 (2 positions available)
This is a 12-month position. The internship is primarily hospital-based but candidates may be asked to perform other clinical activities within the practice as caseload requires. At the end of this internship, we would anticipate that the individuals will have developed a wide range of competencies including lameness investigation, anaesthesia, reproductive work, diagnostic imaging and management of colic cases. The applicants should become well-grounded to enter private practice or apply for further post-graduate training.
Responsibilities
The interns will be responsible for in-patient care, client communication and will assist with out-patient appointments, emergency admissions and surgery. Prior experience of equine anaesthesia is an advantage. The interns will be encouraged to complete a case report/series with the final aim of publication in a peer-reviewed journal and relevant support will be given for this.

Chine House Veterinary Hospital is a well-equipped and RCVS accredited equine hospital with MRI, stabling for at least 20 inpatients, a supportive and friendly team of vets and nurses including a well-recognised specialist in Equine surgery. The caseload is very mixed providing a broad base of experience.
Prospective Applicants
Prospective applicants are encouraged to spend at least one day seeing practice at the hospital prior to the selection process.
Applicants Must
- Show initiative, be willing to learn, and be committed to providing the best possible service to our patients and clients
- Hold a veterinary degree
- Be members of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons
- Be fluent in English
Additional Information
Accommodation will be provided on site, and the out of hours rota is 1:2, including phone duties.
Salary circa £23k per annum (accommodation and associated costs deducted)
