About Energy Systems

We help customers navigate the complex transition to a decarbonized and more sustainable energy future. We do this by assuring that energy systems work safely and effectively, using solutions that are increasingly digital. We also help industries and governments to navigate the many complex, interrelated transitions taking place globally and regionally, in the energy industry.

About the Role

Do you enjoy solving real-life problems and learning from industry-leading experts? Do you want to work on a variety of projects that touch all aspects of the energy transition? Here at DNV, what we do matters. Whether it’s helping the Energy Industry transition to a more decarbonised and sustainable future or helping safeguard life, property, and the environment, every day, what you do will make a difference. This is our shared purpose and one our people are proud to be part of.

Our highly respected Risk Advisory department in the UK and Ireland is primarily responsible for the delivery of consultancy and risk management services. Our team provides high-quality services and best practices in risk identification, assessment, and mitigation and assists our customers in risk-based decision support. This approach is highly valued in Oil & Gas (upstream, midstream, downstream), the evolving hydrogen sector, and in allied areas of Energy transition (Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS), renewables).

  • Applying consequence and risk assessment methods and tools to solve real customer issues using industry-leading software and tools, validated through large/full-scale experiments performed at our major hazards testing and research facility in Spadeadam. Gas dispersion studies, advanced computational simulations, and quantitative risk assessments are just a taste of the projects that you will work on.
  • Learning Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) software packages and having the opportunity to specialise in gas dispersion, fire, and explosion modelling for real-life assets.
  • The opportunity to actively engage with clients to understand their challenges as they seek to make the Energy industry safer and more sustainable, with a special focus on energy transition challenges.
  • Working alongside a variety of world-leading experts to enhance your understanding of our industry, its terminology, and how different maths, physics, and engineering disciplines contribute to safety.

You’ll be stretched but always supported, so don’t worry if the Energy industry or terminology above is unfamiliar to you, we will teach you all you need to know. Upon joining, you’ll receive a buddy to help you settle in, a mentor to enhance your technical knowledge, as well as ongoing on-the-job coaching and support from your colleagues.
