Your Role

We are looking for a Graduate Civil Engineer for our Infrastructure team, based in Cambridge, joining our 2026 Graduate Programme.

The Opportunity

From the beginning of your career you will help develop design solutions to support the creation of new communities across the Midlands and East of England. You will collaborate with your team and wider cohort, building your civil engineering expertise within an exciting, creative, and interdisciplinary environment. Your work will be diverse, from designing a new junction on the national strategic road network to creating sustainable drainage systems for a 5,000‑home residential development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify optimum, sustainable design solutions for residential infrastructure, including drainage and highways.
  • Undertake varied design work for residential and commercial schemes using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other industry software.
  • Support engineering activities from feasibility through to construction, including detailed calculations, analysis, and inspections.
  • Assess risk on projects and undertake risk management to mitigate risks.
  • Assist in preparing reports, presentations, bids, and proposals.
  • Provide technical guidance on civil engineering matters to the wider project team.
  • Attend meetings and workshops with clients and members of other disciplines.

Project Portfolio Highlights

Our portfolio includes major regional residential projects such as the re‑development of Alconbury Airfield and a new development at Little Barford, Bedfordshire, including interaction with East‑West Rail; design support for the continued re‑development of Paradise, Birmingham; and nationally significant energy projects like the Agratas giga battery plant.

Professional Development and Support

You will benefit from our structured graduate training scheme and be assigned a Delegated Engineer and Supervising Civil Engineer to support your route to Chartership. You will join a supportive and successful team with exciting career opportunities, gain great client exposure and professional development, and work in an innovative and collaborative environment.

About You

At Stantec, we value your potential over past experience. You will have at minimum a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a keen interest in the Infrastructure sector. We are looking for people who are:

  • A Perseverer – composed in the face of setbacks, approaching challenges with confidence and determination.
  • A Collaborator – effective working with diverse teams, considering others’ perspectives to shape better outcomes.
  • A Problem‑Solver – keen to share insights based on evidence, unafraid to challenge conventional thinking.

Work Arrangement

Graduates are asked to be in the office 4 days per week to ensure sufficient time with the team and the appropriate level of support.
