Job Description

About Us:

Navantia UK is a leading provider of innovative naval solutions, specializing in the design, construction, and lifecycle support of naval ships. As part of the global Navantia Group, we are committed to delivering cutting-edge technologies and world-class services across the maritime sector. Based in Bristol, we are seeking highly motivated professionals to join our team and play a key role in ensuring the successful design and integration of next generation ships. In these roles, you may be involved with Naval Architecture calculations, structural design, arrangements, outfitting design including complex mission systems, propulsion, electrical and auxiliary systems design and integration.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies and complex shipbuilding programmes, developing new novel ship designs which may include autonomous systems. You will be instrumental in delivering solutions that meet operational requirements in an efficient way while ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards.

Role Overview

As a Graduate Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic engineering team, contributing to the design, development, and delivery of ship design projects. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience to support your transition from academic study to professional engineering practice and support your progression towards Chartered Engineer. We would highly welcome applications from candidates from Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar degrees.

Navantia UK will provide the successful candidate with Mentorship from experienced engineers, opportunities to work on high-impact projects and support for professional registration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and analysis of various ship design platforms including the preparation of technical documentation.
  • Support project planning, documentation, and reporting activities.
  • Participate in site visits, inspections, and commissioning activities.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including design, production, and quality assurance.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and innovation projects.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with engineering standards and regulations.
  • Engage in professional development activities and work towards chartership.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant Engineering discipline.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Desire to work within the shipbuilding and marine industry.
  • Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., CAD, analysis tools).
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK and willingness to travel if required.
