Job Description

Fugro is now seeking ambitious Graduate Engineers to join the Engineering and Consultancy team based in our Oxfordshire head office. The Consulting team is responsible for analysing and interpreting accurate geological, geotechnical, and geophysical as well as laboratory testing data. This enables our clients to make informed decisions during the engineering, design, and construction phases of infrastructure development projects, ultimately reducing project risk and costs. This is a varied and rewarding role where you will support the delivery of geotechnical and engineering projects across land and nearshore environments. You will take part in desktop studies, site investigations, data integration, and interpretation of subsurface conditions to support the safe and reliable design of major energy and infrastructure projects. Alongside fieldwork, you will work in the office applying advanced software to integrated ground models and geotechnical analyses.

You will collaborate closely with experienced engineers, project managers, and clients, gaining hands-on experience while playing an important role in delivering high-quality projects across the business.

Fugro offers significant progression opportunities as you become established in the company and grow your capabilities. Opportunities exist for promotion to Consulting Team Lead or careers paths for those wishing to move into the Management side of the business. For those who are internationally mobile, overseas opportunities may also be available. Fugro offers a wide range of in-house and external training to develop your technical capabilities and personal leadership skills.

Your Role and Responsibilities

  • Supporting the consultancy and engineering teams on challenging site characterisation projects.
  • Assisting with the development and use of ground models.
  • Supporting collection, analysing, and reporting of site investigation data.
  • Collecting, integrating, and managing geotechnical and spatial data.
  • Carrying out data assessment, including historical data analysis.
  • Producing maps and spatial outputs to support project delivery by using GIS software and modeling tools for data analysis and mapping.
  • Creating, maintaining, and updating project databases.
  • Supporting digitalisation and automation with your ideas and coding.
  • Cultivating expertise in engineering geology and applying it effectively to project development.
  • Gaining an understanding of site investigations, including the purpose and type of data collected.
  • Learning role-specific tools, systems, and processes.
  • Potential involvement with nearshore projects, including work around jack-up rigs.

What You'll Need to Thrive in This Role

  • A degree (or working towards one) in Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, or a related discipline.
  • A strong interest in land and nearshore geotechnical engineering and risk management.
  • Willingness to work in both site-based and office-based environments.
  • Experience or interest in using technical software, such as ArcGIS, ground investigation databases, or geotechnical analysis tools.
  • Confidence working with data, including collecting, analysing, and interpreting soil and rock information.
  • A practical, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within project teams and with clients.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality, safe work.
  • Curiosity about the natural environment and ground conditions.
