As Consulting Engineers, we maintain a traditional family-based approach to business, putting client needs first and resolving flooding problems in the urban environment using the latest hydraulic modelling and analytical techniques.
Position Overview
We are now hiring on a hybrid basis working from our Crawley office. Minimum is 2 days in the office or full time in the office if that suits. This is a great opportunity where you will learn many transferable skills. For instance, RAA also undertakes drone surveys using our in-house team with a fleet of drones and sensors. As part of this graduate role, you will be able to get involved in this side of the business as well if it interests you.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the engineering teams on wastewater and drainage studies, from feasibility through to detailed design stages.
- Act in an advisory role across the UK, operating with a high degree of autonomy and self-reliance.
- Provide technical guidance and support to our clients, and other divisions within the Group in a team of other modellers, technicians and analysts.
- Engage in an exciting range of projects within a highly collaborative and supportive environment to further develop your career.
- Use InfoWorks ICM hydraulic software app to develop integrated 1D or 2D models.
- Undertake Hydrology Studies and determine appropriate inputs to integrated river and urban drainage catchment models.
- Input and manipulate data including Lidar data, Ordnance Survey mapping, asset data, GIS data and other information from various sources.
- Assist with the development of new techniques and skills to expedite the delivery of projects.
- Prepare plans, maps, reports, and diagrams.
- Receive training in the use of hydraulic modelling software and other software such as GIS (MapInfo, QGIS, or ArcGIS), databases, spreadsheets, etc. The training will be a mix of internal and external courses and on-the-job training.
Person Specification
- Honours degree in a relevant subject area e.g., Civil Engineering, Geography or water-based subject.
- Proficiency in computer skills.
- Strong technical skills in mathematics, GIS, or engineering.
- Ability to manage workload efficiently.
- Good communication skills. Able to present ideas logically and coherently in both oral presentations and written reports.
- Self-motivated, able to work under pressure and as a team member.
