Role Responsibilities
This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate looking to get into Investment. The role covers various areas that support the Investment team and the wider business to ensure we are providing investment products that deliver value to our clients. Key responsibilities are:
Investment & Portfolio Management
- Develop a thorough understanding of the firm's investment philosophy, portfolio construction process, and long-term strategic objectives.
- Support the investment team in the day-to-day management of discretionary model portfolios for financial advice firms.
- Monitor portfolio holdings to ensure alignment with the firm's investment strategy.
- Analyse portfolio and fund performance, and prepare reports for both internal and external Investment Committees.
Research & Analysis
- Conduct quantitative analysis of investment products using FE Analytics, Morningstar AWS, and internal systems.
- Carry out due diligence on investment fund providers and produce clear, well-structured research reports.
- Contribute to thematic research and broader investment ideas across asset classes.
Client & Adviser Support
- Assist financial advisers in the use of the Model Portfolio Service and Multi Asset Fund, responding to queries and resolving issues, escalating more complex matters where appropriate.
- Contribute to client-facing materials, including investment commentary and written insights.
- Present to clients at both group and individual meetings alongside senior team members.
Governance, Projects & Technology
- Participate in relevant team projects and support the ongoing development of the firm.
- Embrace technology and identify opportunities to improve efficiency in daily investment and reporting processes.
- Attend industry conferences and events to stay informed on emerging investment trends and incorporate relevant insights into the firm's work.
- Complete all mandatory CPD requirements and remain up to date with relevant regulatory obligations.
Role Requirements
Absolute must-haves:
- We're looking for potential so any experience or activities that demonstrate your passion for developing a career in investment management, fintech or financial services more generally.
- An understanding of model portfolio services and how they are implemented and maintained on investment platforms.
- Willingness to work towards achieving the CFA UK Investment Management Certificate (IMC) to become Level 4 qualified.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks accurately in a fast-paced environment.
- Confidence working with data, systems, and technology — you're comfortable learning new tools and processes.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and with external providers.
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset and the ability to take ownership of tasks from start to finish.
- Understanding of what financial advisers do and the challenges they face.
- Highly numerate.
Nice to-haves:
- Work experience in a DFM or MPS business.
- Passed the CFA UK Investment Management Certificate (IMC).
- Advanced Excel/coding skills.
- Experience producing and presenting complex research projects.
