My client designs and manufactures specialist equipment for the motorsport industry.

About the Role

They are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the team on a permanent basis.

Candidate Profile

  • Some experience in a Design Engineering or CAD Operator position.
  • HNC/HND/BTEC/NVQ or Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar).
  • A keen interest in the motorsport industry.
  • Experience designing enclosures for electromechanical equipment (ideal).
  • Experience designing equipment for harsh environments (beneficial).
  • Previous experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient with 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Inventor.
  • Strong theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge, including core principles and tight tolerances.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small multi-disciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use CAD for concept design and produce technical drawings.
  • Liaise with manufacturing providers.
  • Contribute to final assembly of products.
  • Create required design documentation, project reports, and plans.
  • Update 3D models and drawings.
  • Input parts into the MRP system and create BOMs.
  • Check drawings for sign-off.
  • Work within a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects.
