Job Introduction

Join Lancaster City Council as a Graduate Planning Enforcement Officer and play a vital role in supporting our response to the Climate Emergency. You will contribute to community safety and help safeguard children’s welfare through effective enforcement activities. Your work will directly support the modernisation of our Planning Enforcement Team, ensuring we meet the evolving needs of our community with high standards and integrity.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will manage your own caseload of minor enforcement cases, keeping detailed records and liaising with the public, councillors, and external agencies. Assisting senior officers, you’ll prepare statutory documents for court cases and represent the Council when needed. Collaboration with colleagues across teams, including Tree Protection and Policy Officers, will be key to influencing local planning policies and delivering excellent service.

You’ll Fit Right In If…

You are organised, precise, and eager to develop your communication skills. Whether you hold an undergraduate qualification or are working towards one, your ability to work independently and as part of a team will help you thrive. A full driving licence is essential for this role. You’ll share our values of Working Together, Ambition, Pride, and Ownership, contributing positively to our community-focused ethos.
