Position
We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Production Engineer to join our Engineering team based at our manufacturing site in Kingswinford. This role suits someone with a degree-level mechanical engineering qualification who is looking to gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment. You will need to be a self-starter who is fully conversant with the principles of design for manufacture and assembly, gauging, tooling, fixtures, and control software. You will support in developing and implementing processes in production and constantly drive to error-proof. On the job training and support will be provided to enable the successful candidate to learn and develop within this field.
Core Responsibilities
- Assist in creating a facility that delivers a quality product, recognized as such by our customers.
- Establish processes and facilities that minimize manufacturing cost and improve associate safety.
- Deploy modern lean manufacturing techniques.
- Key focus on mechanical design, assembly, hand tools, jigs, fixturing & control software.
- Use of 3D scanning equipment and producing technical reports.
- Creation of SOPs / work instructions and risk assessments.
- Provide technical support to production personnel.
- Support cross-department small-sized engineering projects.
- Directly support engineering team including maintenance when needed.
- Training will be provided by the production engineering manager.
Requirements
- CAD experience – SolidWorks to produce new tooling design & refine current tooling.
- Computer Literate – Outlook, Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint.
- Project management skills.
- Independent, self-motivated, organized and driven.
- Methodical, logical and tenacious.
- Positive attitude and ability to work with others in a small team.
- Team player.
- Flexible & results orientated.
- Degree level mechanical engineering qualification – or experience level 5 and above in a relevant engineering apprenticeship.
- Good understanding of mechanical design, manufacturing processes & controls, with an ability to reverse engineer, produce and present reports.
- Cutting, drilling, milling, automated welding, material forming experience.
- Hands on, whilst always able to critically think.
- Controls & coding.
- Capability and validation studies.
