About the Role

Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (RBC) is seeking to appoint a dedicated and detail-oriented Principal’s Office Administrator to join our team on a permanent basis. You will play a crucial role in supporting the Principal’s Office with a wide range of administrative duties, working closely with the Principal, Vice Principals, and colleagues across RBC, Birmingham City University, and external organisations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive administrative support on a day-to-day basis.
  • Maintain accurate records of Visiting Lecturers, including processing timesheets, creating payroll imports, tracking hours and expenses, and managing recruitment processes.
  • Monitor budgets across Music (including Junior Conservatoire) and Acting departments.
  • Support general administrative tasks such as raising purchase orders, arranging travel, and servicing meetings.
  • Respond professionally to queries from staff, students, and visitors.
  • Assist other team members and provide cover when required.

Essential Requirements

  • Educated to degree level or possess equivalent experience.
  • Proven administrative, IT, and customer service experience in a complex environment.
  • Ability to work independently, use initiative, and propose effective solutions.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Professional, confident, and courteous communication skills, suitable for working with senior staff, external partners, and students.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with budget monitoring, purchasing, and international travel arrangements.
  • Previous experience in an educational or creative environment, particularly within Music or the Performing Arts.
