We are currently recruiting a Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality Assistant / Graduate to join our team based in Swatragh but with overall responsibility for our operations throughout the UK & Ireland.

As the HSEQ assistant/graduate within BP McKeefry you will be working within a highly dynamic business and will be responsible for ensuring that the Health, Safety and environmental requirements of our staff and operations are met as well as enabling the business to deliver a high-quality and service for our customers. You will work proactively with directors, managers, and staff to maintain and further improve programmes established for the management of Health and Safety throughout the Company.

Personnel Specification

Essential Criteria

  • NEBOSH General Certificate
  • Internal Auditing qualification/ training
  • Competent IT skills with full working knowledge of Microsoft packages.
  • Experience in writing and producing reports.
  • Experience in risk assessing and developing safe systems of work.
  • Driver's license

Desirable Criteria

  • Minimum 1 year's experience working in a similar role.
  • Experience in risk assessing and developing safe systems of work.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate
  • Experience working in the transport industry
  • Experience with HACCP

*This role requires occasional travel to sites in the UK and Ireland*

About The Role

Auditing

  • Maintaining the company ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 14001 Environmental, and ISO 45001 H&S Management Systems.
  • Assist the HSEQ Manager in preparation for external audits (ISO, SCOPA, SQAS, and DGSA)
  • Carry out internal Audits of the company procedures to ensure they are effective and continually improving.

Health & Safety

  • Developing and communicating relevant information, instruction, and training to all employees (e.g., induction, risk assessments, safe systems of work, toolbox talks, etc).
  • Keep an up-to-date training matrix and records, reviewed weekly and training needs communicated to the transport planners
  • Assisting in investigating accidents and near misses, reporting on findings and implementing suitable corrective actions.
  • Issuing PPE and maintaining stock levels in stores

Quality

  • Assist in customer complaints and internal non-conformance investigations
  • Report Weekly on all sites' KPIs.
  • Maintain Key customer service by continual checks on jobs ensuring paperwork available, traceability of products, and key customer requirements
  • Respond promptly to last minute ad-hoc requests from both customers and internal colleagues including customer/supplier questionnaires.

Environmental

  • Control and disposal of waste across multiple sites ensuring up-to-date records of waste transfer notes
  • Assist the HSEQ Manager with green energy projects.
  • Review, record and update the various green energy registers within the business and submit readings to Ofgem, RHI, and Power NI, etc.
  • Maintain the environmental aspects and impacts register

Required Criteria

  • Must be legally entitled to work in the UK
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or relevant H&S degree
  • Experience in writing and producing reports.

Desired Criteria

  • Experience in developing and delivering HSEQ training.
  • Experience with HACCP
  • 1 year experience in a similar Health & Safety role.
